Call for Papers

 

The IEEE Workshop on Spoken Language Technology (SLT) will be held from 18 – 21 December 2018 in Athens, Greece, Europe. Encompassing the current deep learning trends and traditional knowledge-based methods, SLT’s 2018 main theme will be around “Spoken Language Technology in the Era of Deep Learning: Challenges and Opportunities”.

The workshop is expected to provide researchers around the world with the opportunity to interact and present their newest and most advanced research in the fields of speech and language processing. The program for SLT 2018 will include oral and poster sessions, demos as well as keynote speeches, plus invited speakers in the field of spoken language as well as a tutorial and multiple special sessions.

Topics

All papers related to spoken language technology are welcome (see topics below). As part of our special theme, we particularly welcome the submission of papers that address challenges and limitations in current deep learning approaches, and opportunities for overcoming them (including but not limited to hybrid approaches using deep learning and traditional knowledge-based methods).

Submission Details

Authors are invited to prepare full-length, 4-6 page papers, including figures, plus 1-2 additional pages for references only. Paper submission is available here: http://www.slt2018.org/paper-submission/

Schedule

The deadline for paper submission is Monday 9 July 2018 at 23h59 (EST). After this date, no new submissions will be accepted.

Venue

The venue for SLT 2018 is the Royal Olympic Hotel in Athens, Greece. Athens is a historic city and the capital of Greece, located in the south-east part of the Mediterranean Sea. The emblematic city of democracy provides for amazing sightseeing, great food tastings and endless strolls and shopping in the buzzing festive capital.
